“The Howler: An English Breakfast” is a slow, treacherous dub with a booming bass and unidentified sonic attacks flitting about. Over the top of this is the daunting Genesis P-Orridge, reciting a tale of a debauched castle’s breakfast. The voice of Genesis is enough to cause hallucinations. An absolutely necessary disc. Lex Marburger – Lollipop Magazine

In 1997 Gen was unable to come out on their third Pigface tour but instead made films introducing all of the bands as Eva Braun Hitler, in drag and lederhosen (which reside at the museum)

The spoken word part of The Howler was recorded at the Mattress Factory / Invisible studios at 2024 S Wabash (where Swans, Pigface, Murder Inc, DVOA, Lab Report and Killing Joke had worked) I picked Gen up at Chicago Midway airport back when it was basically the size of a 7-11 and you could just drive up to it on the street and see passengers and luggage through the windows – they had forgotten the words so they were faxed to the invisible office from X Thee Underlying – Gens office in Brooklyn.

We enlarged the words (on the same xerox we made the Test Dept backdrops) Gen read them then we threw the coffee-stained pages in the trash and left back to the airport.

Jim, my drum tech at the time, fished them out, held on to them for 20+ years and gifted them back to me a few years ago when I started the museum.
